Gary Chu, O.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.O.
Vice President, Community Collaborations
Dr. Chu is an Attending Optometrist and the Vice President for Community Collaborations at New England Eye. He is also an Associate Professor of Optometry at The New England College of Optometry where he lectures students in the areas of geriatric and public health.
Dr. Chu received his Doctor of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry (1995) and his Masters of Public Health (2002) from Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr. Chu has been involved in geriatric eye care for the past 12 years and has established relationships with many geriatric community organizations and health care providers. He has educated thousands through his lectures to Geriatricians, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Optometrists, Lions Clubs, and Senior Centers about visual health and function in the elderly, vision in falls prevention, prevention of ocular disease, access to eye care, and the importance of low vision rehabilitation services.
Dr. Chu's approach to eye care is from a public health slant where community collaboration is of utmost importance.
