Primary Eye Care

Comprehensive eye exams are critical to protect and preserve one of the most valued senses, your vision. New England Eye conducts one of the most comprehensive eye exams in New England by nationally recognized optometrists utilizing state of the art technology.

It's a fact of life that your eyes change as you age. Early detection and treatment is critical to maintain healthy vision and protect the eyes from the effects of potentially blinding diseases, such as glaucoma. Other common diseases that also may affect your vision include diabetes and high blood pressure.

At New England Eye, improving the visual performance of our patients is our top priority. Beyond the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of eye disease, we assess muscle coordination and eye focusing in order to determine how efficiently and effectively your visual system is operating. If a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses is needed, we will provide one that addresses your unique visual needs.

The American Optometric Association and New England Eye recommend comprehensive eye exams as follows:

  • Infants/Toddlers – 6 months and if nothing is detected, again at age 3
  • School Aged Children – a comprehensive eye exam in addition to a vision screening each year
  • Young Adults – a comprehensive eye exam every 1-2 years and if wearing glasses or contact lenses, each year
  • Adults – a comprehensive eye exam is needed at age 40 as vision begins to change and each year following
  • Older Adults – every year to prevent and manage visual function and age related eye diseases
